Shame on me for not posting so long. Yes I've been busy, but still :P
So shall I make up for it a bit more?
A while ago I spent a big deal on gathering information about a original fic (most likely novel, but I am gonna try a short fic first) regarding the dispute of the Bronkhorsters vs the Heeckerens which took place in this area during the medieval ages. To get back at the topic: A Bannerheer (German name: Bannerherr) is a knight who leads his army under his own flag. I am not certain yet if this is a specific Dutch nobility rank or not because it is either another name for Duke, Count or baron. I dropped the question at a Dutch medieval forum and I'm gonna see where this bunny takes off too. So I waited.
Today this idea really started to take shape. I felt a bit disappointed in not hearing a blib, up until today. But patience is a virtue as it turned out... today I got a message from the descendant of the noble line I am researching. This count (I kid you not) is the direct descendant of these lords and is willing to answer every question I have. So now all of a sudden I need to kick myself in gear and start working on the research more because... this is an opportunity I cannot let go off. This man is the source regarding this and is recognised by historians as such.
For years I wanted to do more research and write, so this might take a while longer. Call it a childhood dream coming true. My dad always has been interested in this, so I at least have one reader. When I came home from school and had my history classes regarding these dispute (which was such a huge part of Dutch history), I told him everything and he took me to see the castles (our village/town had a hunting castle/lodge that the lords used for hunting) or ruin's where those lords lived. Enough for a child to fantasize about. But there is a lot of legend to sort out, stories, ranks, family names and family trees.
So yeah maybe you are going to see a book grow!
